United Leak Detection can provide high quality mass spectrometry leak detection services for any industry. We work with your specifications to meet your testing requirements. From condenser coils to fuel lines, fermentation vessels to distillation systems, we will work with you to develop a plan to meet your needs.
Why use Helium Gas for Leak Detection?
Helium is a noble gas, and as such is completely inert under normal circumstances. It will not react with air. It is not flammable and is non-toxic. We can detect helium levels as low as a single part of helium per TEN BILLION with our equipment and are confident that with our trained technicians, we will be able to find your leaks quickly and accurately. We are able to draw tight vacuums and provide outside-in leak testing, or we can provide inside out (pressure) helium testing. Different jobs call for different procedures. We don't try to push a "one size fits all" solution. Our professionals will work to meet your specific needs.
What types of testing can you provide?
We can provide outside-in testing. In this type of testing, a helium detector is attached to the process to be tested, and a tight vacuum (up to 10^-8 torr)is drawn, helium is applied to the outside of the vessel to be tested. The detector monitors helium that is drwan into the equipment and through the vacuum to the detector.
Inside-out testing is also known as pressure testing. Helium is introduced into the process and a leak "sniffer" is used to find places along the system where the helium is escaping.
What parts of a process can ou test?
Different leaks require different technology. Leaks are found a number of different places in the system. Commonly found issues include: O-rings seals, metal gaskets, shut-off valves with through-flowing leaks, internal welds on utility pipes, long chamber welds, and even flange porsity. Often leaks are so severe that pumping down to a required range can be a challenge. We have experience in setting up a test correctly, and executing it. Your testing will be completed and your leaks will be found to your specifications.
For mass spec testing, we can test down to 1 part of helium per 10 BILLION (1 x 10^-10) and even smaller in certain circumstances! Whether you are testing 36 inches of small bore tubing or 40,000 cubic feet of space, United Leak Detection has the experience to make it happen. Helium detection is fast as well as accurate and those two together equal money saved.
